Lanyard

Lanyards can make traveling with children a lot more fun and enjoyable. Any parent can tell you that a child who is bored is going to be trouble. If you are planning any kind of family outing, you should make a lanyard a part of the trip.

Listed below are some of the best ways to make use of the lanyard while traveling with small children:

  • Children like to have their own things. They like to feel important and have a place to carry small items of their own. Keeping this in mind you can easily prepare a lanyard pouch for each of your children. Allow each child to select a number of small things that they can have with them no matter where you intend to go. You might consider letting the child have a pencil and a pad of paper, a small book or even a small stuffed toy.
  • A simple travel game, but one that can be played virtually anywhere is a scavenger hunt. Before you leave make a list of a few small items that your child can look for while you are traveling. Even if your child is not able to read, you and your youngster can draw a list of things that the child can find while you are out. Alternatively, if the child is older you might consider creating a scorecard where the child can keep track of various things that they see.  A perfect example of this is an animal list. Have the child keep track of all the dogs, cats, horses etc. The lanyard will allow the child to have both the list and a pencil with them at all times and you will not have to worry about it.
  • Lanyard pouches are a great place for children to keep their own small snacks. If you are flying, you might want to keep some gum and a few small candies in the pouch. The lanyard pouch can also be used as a garbage bag for any wrappers that the child may need to throw away. The lanyard method makes certain that by the end of the trip, you do not have a hundred wrappers in the car or they are not merely thrown on the ground.
  • Parents often allow their children to have any number of different high tech gadgets with them. Sadly, many of these items get lost or go missing in the confusion of traveling from place to place. The smart parent will teach their child to keep their MP3 player or game machine in their lanyard at all times. By doing this there is far less chance of the game system being left in a bathroom or restaurant.
  • The lanyard can also be used as a way for children to have important items with them when they have to go out. If a child is going to the ice machine or to get a drink at the vending machine, they may need to have the key to the room. Children should be instructed to put the key in the lanyard before they leave the room for any reason. This will ensure that they are not locked out, and that they do not lose a key.

Lanyards can make traveling with children easier and therefore make a worthy addition to any trip.
